Serious RPG Adventure Game: PC/Mac
VR Experience

Concept

A Serious RPG Adventure Game and Immersive VR Experience about growing forgotten foods and reclaiming tradition to take charge of your food future, made in India for the world.

We believe in inducing a paradigm shift to demystify growing food as a lifestyle and refamiliarizing ourselves with forgotten foods that used to be the backbone of our diets. To help people, especially in urban, non-agrarian spaces - Not just eat but grow local, native, and seasonal and build our good future together and on our terms by forming sustainable urban food communities.

Through education via play, Forgotten Foods intends to focus on the lack of Food Sovereignty which finds its roots in colonialism and the interests of Big Agriculture, and the increasing physical and philosophical distances between those who grow food and those who consume.

  • The loss of nutritious traditional diets and knowledge about food.

  • Induce a paradigm shift to demystify growing food as a lifestyle.

  • Refamiliarize ourselves with Forgotten Foods that used to be the backbone of our diets.

  • To help people, especially in urban, non-agrarian spaces ‘Not only Eat but Grow Local, Native and Seasonal and Build our Food Future Together’ by forming sustainable urban food communities.

USP

A farming story combined with Ayurveda, Food Sovereignty, and Community Action that empowers players to make real-world change by Eating And Growing Local, Native And Seasonal through an RPG Adventure Game and Immersive VR Experience made by a queer-inclusive, women-led team from India.

Social impact goals

  • Build Familiarity with food forests and community gardens in the urban context.

  • Raise Awareness about native and local foods, especially forgotten foods.

  • Promote Action both individually and collectively to build conscious, sustainable, and healthy food futures.

GAME DESIGN GOAls

In a not-too-distant future all food is replaced with standardized nutrient mixes and edible pastes, rationed out by Big Food Companies. However, despite the vast quantities of this food being produced, more and more people are finding themselves on the brink of starvation because of an inexplicable food allergy.

Your mission is to travel back to a time before people lost their right to control what they eat and return to the future with knowledge about forgotten foods. Your actions and your choices give you access to more forgotten foods. You learn how to grow, prepare and share these foods from the people in this lost world. Will you learn to explore, forage and harvest various forgotten foods and participate in a Food Growing Community? Will you restore food sovereignty to individuals and cultures facing extinction due to its loss of it?
